Unique Solutions

Influencing without Authority

For this workshop, our broad design is based on Aristotle’s effective model of persuasion, which includes the three elements of Logos (Well reasoned logic), Ethos (Credibility, trust and rapport) and Pathos (understanding and adapting to feeling/emotions).

Additionally, based on the client’s specific needs we also leverage the concept of “The 6 Weapons of Influence” by Cialdini, though an immersive game based learning solution.

We also believe that most interpersonal challenges emerge from people’s deep rooted emotions (fears) and therefore we leverage some Self Mastery tools to help people gain clarity on their own internal challenges.

The broad methodology will be that of a typical experiential workshop, with key focus on small group work, learning activities, simulations, gamification and role plays.

Storytelling for Leaders

Storytelling is the number-one leadership skill for the next decade. Why? Because storytelling helps leaders communicate more effectively and, more importantly, engage and inspire people into action.

In what ways can storytelling help leaders be more effective?

The short answer is that storytelling is useful in far more situations than most leaders realize.

The five most commonly used are probably these: inspiring the organization, setting a vision, teaching important lessons, defining culture and values, and explaining who you are and what you believe.

TransforME’s flagship workshop on Storytelling helps leaders connect with their people, stakeholders and customers and deliver their message in a way that is sure to touch the heart and minds!

Our program is based on 2 pillars – “Telling the Right Story” and “Telling the Story Right”!

Presenting to Influence

Having done this work for many clients and based on our own learnings & experience, we understand that being an impactful presenter it is your greatest chance to demonstrate expertise, strategic perspective, and the interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership and success. We have learnt and observed that the ability to build and deliver an impactful presentation goes beyond the basics of body language and communication. This is especially true in cases where people are required to deliver compelling presentations towards a specific end.

In our experience, presentation skills are about being able to storyboard, create value for the audience, construct a vivid, persuasive message – and most importantly connecting with the key audience.

We have also observed that many bright minded sharp professionals struggle to make impactful presentations due to their inability to connect to the audience and rigidity on the approach of the presentation.

TransforME’s “Presenting to Influence” workshop in run in 3 different formats, depending on the specific needs to the audience. The broad framework is based on the 3 pillars of effective presentations – Understanding, Structure & Delivery. For senior audiences, we include tools of influencing and persuasion enabling participants to profile audiences, get off to a great start, use the right analogies/ examples and pretty much, “NAIL” the presentation!

The TransforME USP in these workshops is our extremely facilitative methodology, leveraging high practice time, recordings, playback and our facilitators deep expertise in this subject; all make this more of a Group Coaching session with high individual attention, rather than a typical classroom workshop.

Leadership Breakthrough Labs

In a Human Process Laboratory, a group of around 10-12 participants work together along with two facilitators to learn about human processes, and in the process discover more about themselves, their strengths, their styles, their interpersonal and group interactions, how they perceive others, and are perceived by others.

While this is the primary task, there is no predetermined agenda and the group uses the ‘here and now’ experience to derive this learning, using each other as a resource. The facilitators help create a climate for such learning.

Our Leader’s Lab, is not a human process lab though it draws it’s foundation from that approach.

We leverage a semi-structured, experiential format, in which we work with some predetermined agenda shared by our client as their key focus area. While there is some structure, a large part of the workshop deals with participants experiencing learnings at a deeper cognitive and emotive level.

This is achieved through a very robust and highly facilitative process, that the facilitators have mastery over and credentials in. This 2-3 day experiential retreat, conducted ideally at an offsite location will be led with case studies, dilemma games and t-group work.

While the specific learning goals will emerge from the 360° Feedback outcomes, some of the themes that are typically addressed in the Breakthrough Leadership Lab are:

  1. Self Awareness and Dealing with our egos as Leaders
  2. Engaging to emerge as one unit –a functional team
  3. Improve interpersonal relations
  4. Strategic Thinking & Long Term Orientation
  5. Role clarity – moving from Rule to Role to Contribution
  6. Emotional sensitivity in relationships

Synergizing Strengths

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success-Henry Ford”

In today’s interdependent, matrix and dynamic workspaces, the need for teams to work smoothly is critical. However, the realities of competition, ego, personal agendas and fast changing teams makes for some interesting challenges that teams and leaders face today in getting everyone to rally around a common goal.

TransforME’s Synergizing Strengths workshop has its foundations in the framework of “The Five Dysfunctions of a Team”, by Patrick Lencioni as detailed below.

  1. Absence of trust—unwilling to be vulnerable within the group
  2. Fear of conflict—seeking artificial harmony over constructive passionate debate
  3. Lack of commitment—feigning buy-in for group decisions creates ambiguity throughout the organization
  4. Avoidance of accountability—ducking the responsibility to call peers on counterproductive behaviour which sets low standards
  5. Inattention to results—focusing on personal success, status and ego before team success
  6. The TransforME Synergizing Strengths workshop facilitates learning sequentially through each of the possible dysfunctions. Each dysfunction is addressed though simulations, caselets, NLP exercises and small group discussions. At the end of the workshop, the group walks away with a clear and implementable plan to truly synergize their strengths!

Elevate – a workshop for women leaders

Organisations today face a shortage of women leaders (fewer than two percent of FORTUNE 1,000 CEOs and just eight percent of FORTUNE 500 top earners). There is a critical mass of future women leaders at the middle management who are high potentials to take on leadership roles however the reality is that women, particularly in this segment make tough choices and decision at this stage to try and balance home life with their professional aspirations.

Based on our experience in working with and conducting workshops with hundreds of women leaders, here are some of our insights of the realities of working women:

  • Striking the right balance - Women along with men are now the primary breadwinners of the home. However, women continue to be the primary caretaker of home.
  • Women have gained more opportunities & responsibilities along with it their daily levels of stress are higher now than they were 40 yrs ago (2.2 times higher for married women with children than for single, childless women), but not for men.
  • The challenge & stress of all the different roles a woman plays is caused by trying to pay attention to too many different responsibilities at once. “Divided attention” syndrome that depletes a lot of energy.
  • Guilt factor - Most working women think their kids & family want more of their time which conflicts with the ‘Linear work culture’ embedded in the work world. i.e more hours you put at work, the higher you climb. Feel – the world of work is built mostly by men for men –doesn’t work well with women
  • Perceived glass ceiling – According to a survey by a nonprofit research group, men are perceived to be better at networking, influencing upward and delegating. Women as well as men perceive women leaders as better at ‘caretaker behaviors’ and men as better at ‘take-charge behaviors’. One participant felt she needed to display ‘Dominant’ behavior style at work to be "taken seriously".
  • TransforME’s Elevate workshop for women leaders enables women managers and leaders to work through these and other related realities, perceptions and challenges. We leverage the use if the Extended DISC tool for this workshop enabling leaders to understand their natural & unconscious behavior patterns and how they can maximize their potential!

Competency Based Interviewing Skills

There are a lot of organizations concerned about arresting attrition given the “war for talent” situation. The industry is confronted with an ever-increasing competition and crunch for Human Capital; which incidentally happens to be the only cutting edge for survival and excellence.
If our talent intake process becomes a robust filter to eliminate wrong resources at the entry point itself, it would certainly prove to be a great enabler. The end outcome will be a ”Right Hire” and not the “Best Hire”.

This workshop attempts to provide awareness and skill development for all interviewers and practicing managers to better their interviewing skills, leveraging the competency based approach to interviewing. While embarking on this initiative, it is important for you to understand and appreciate the difference between Normal interviews and Competency based interviews.

Competency-based interviews (also called structured or behavioural interviews) are more systematic, with each question targeting a specific skill or competency. Candidates are asked questions relating to their behavior in specific circumstances, which they then need to back up with concrete examples. The interviewers will then dig further into the examples by asking for specific explanations about the candidate's behavior or skills. This ensures that the candidate is evaluated based on specific competencies that are required for the role; the process therefore is likely to be more accurate and objective.

The Competency Based Interviewing Skills Workshop (CBIS) will provide participants with the practical skills, knowledge and tools to better their interviewing skills and thereby positively influence the Human Capital intake in your organization.

By the end of this two-day workshop, participants will be able to

  1. develop a clear understanding of the common errors of interviewing and how to avoid them
  2. differentiate between the conventional wisdom about competencies and contemporary approach to the same
  3. develop the skill to draft/ask correct questions to identify specific competency in the context of recruitment interviews
  4. sharpen their interviewing skills by learning the 5 Step process of an interview
  5. become aware of their skill gaps and obtain clarity as to corrective action for enhancing their effectiveness
  6. TransforME’s CBIS workshop is based on the best –selling book by our Chairman & Chief Mentor – Dr. Prabakar Kamath.
