Our Methodology

T- Group

"Students who had participated in a T-group showed significantly more change toward their selected goal than those who had not." – Daniel Goleman

A T-group or training group is a transformational form of group training where participants themselves (typically, between eight and 15 people) learn about themselves (and about small group processes in general) through their interaction with each other. They use feedback, problem solving, and role play to gain insights into themselves, others, and groups.

Our goal is to offer people a safe “lab” to experiment with new realities/ options for their behavior in groups.

Our Facilitators enable this by focusing the participants attention on the 'here and now' behavior in the group. Attention is paid to particular behaviors of participants not on the "whole person", feedback is non-evaluative and reports on the impact of the behavior on others. The participant has the opportunity to become a more authentic self in relation to others through self disclosure and receiving feedback from others.

This is one of TransforME’s key methodologies - Whether it’s a workshop on Influencing or Presentation Skills or a Leadership Lab, this methodology enables the participants to experience and explore their true barriers and experiment with options to change their behaviours.

TransforME’s senior facilitators have rich credentials, deep expertise and vast experience in facilitating t-group based sessions.

Such transformation power this method has that, Daniel Goleman had concluded that "Students who had participated in a T-group showed significantly more change toward their selected goal than those who had not."

"In a recent study, training alone improved leadership skills by 22%. When combined with Executive Coaching, improvement jumps to 77%." - Fortune

“Things do not change; we change.” – Henry David Thoreau

One of the most powerful life skills you can possess is the ability to control your response to people and events around you. Such personal control is an essential cornerstone of interpersonal excellence and achievement. Your ability to positively manage your reactions affects your actions, and in turn, directly affects the extent to which you achieve your goals.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is the science of modelling the patterns of human behavior. NLP explores the inner workings of the human mind: how we think, how we develop our desires, goals and fears and how we motivate ourselves, make connections, and give meaning to our experiences.

TransforME uses this technique of learning in many areas of Interpersonal Excellence and Leadership Excellence.

Our approach is to guide participants, leveraging experiences, examples, reflection and visualization techniques – to uncover their irrational beliefs and help them change their patterns of behavior in specific areas to become more effective.

Being a highly experiential technique, TransforME leverages this methodology in many areas of our trainings and coaching sessions. We have had many participants making breakthrough shifts in their behaviours whether it is in becoming more assertive, handling an aggressive stakeholder, giving feedback or dealing with nervousness in public speaking.

“Tell me and I will Forget, Teach me and I will Remember, Involve me and I will Learn” – Benjamin Franklin

We leverage a variety of Simulations - whether modeled as real business situations or non-business related general scenario based simulation, in a controlled environment.

The biggest advantage of using simulations is that it’s an extremely “action-oriented” method of learning, where learning’s are drawn out from the participants actions during the simulation.

This makes the learning extremely powerful and relevant as participants are able to see the consequences of their actions and it builds a strong buy-in for them to seek an alternative way of behaving.

TransforME uses a variety of Learning Simulations to address many Interpersonal and Team Excellence aspects like Negotiation, Customer Management, Collaboration, Interdependence, Role Clarity, Leadership etc.

“That’s what games are, in the end. Teachers. Fun is just another word for learning.”-- Raph Koster

Gamification is the process of applying gaming designs and concepts to learning or training scenarios in order to make them more engaging and entertaining for the learner.

TransforME has partnered with an Award –Winning company Knolskape in delivering highly engaging and immersive online game-based simulations.

This experiential and immersive learning methodology works brilliantly for today’s generation of Managers who yearn for immersive and highly involved methodologies where the focus is more on “Action” and learning through those actions.

The simulations we facilitate accelerate learning - where learners can experiment with different scenarios and see the consequences of their actions. Participants receive immediate feedback as well as practical and easy to apply ideas for the business world.

TransforME leverages this methodology actively for interventions in the areas of Change Management, Influencing without Authority, Leadership Styles, Stakeholder Management, Sales Team Management.

“You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing and falling over.”– Richard Branson.

TransforME’s outbound training workshops are very high energy offsite training programs for enhancing individual and team performance. Through these outbound workshops, participants “learn by doing” in a variety of life skill areas like teamwork, team bonding, communication, leadership, time management, problem solving, decision making, motivation, change management and personal development.

Our belief that “Its not the gun, but the person behind the gun” ensures that our sessions are not merely about the activities that are conducted, but the true TransforME value comes in our deep expertise in being able to facilitate relevant learning’s from such workshops.

This ensures that our Outbound workshops are not just a series of fun and games, but a lot of time in invested in culling out relevant learnings and application for the participants to take back with them.

Action Learning

“We do not need, and indeed never will have, all the answers before we act..It is often through taking action that we can discover some of them.” -- Charlotte Bunch

Action learning is an approach to solving real problems that involves taking action and reflecting upon the results. The learning that results helps improve the problem-solving process as well as the solutions the team develops.

A typical action learning process includes (1) a real problem that is important, critical, and usually complex, (2) a diverse problem-solving team or "set", (3) a process that promotes curiosity, inquiry, and reflection, (4) a requirement that talk be converted into action and, ultimately, a solution, and (5) a commitment to learning.

TransforME leverages this methodology in conjunction with other methodologies while implementing specific OD, Leadership or Team interventions. Our Coaches and facilitators facilitate this problem solving process through guided enquiry and reflective questioning.

“If I had 60 minutes to solve a problem, I’d spend 55 minutes defining it, and 5 minutes solving it.” – Albert Einstein

We believe that it is imperative for us to understand the realities of our client organization and that of the team for whom we are facilitating an intervention.

Interventions and workshops, using a holistic 4-dimensional toolkit:

1. Analyze – data for processes, scorecards, metrics
2. Understand – meetings to understand realities, opportunities & expectations
3. Discuss – dialogue and focus groups with target audience
4. Experience – fly-on-the-wall observations and recordings

This holistic approach not just ensures that we understand the learning need clearly and are able to customize a relevant, focused solution; but also provides us and our clients valuable insights of aspects that may be in scope of our solution, or outside.

Using this information, our clients have been able to make more meaningful decisions and investments in their learning and OD initiatives.

360° Feedback

“Feedback is the breakfast of Champions.” -- Ken Blanchard

TransforME follows a unique and extremely transformational 360° feedback process – the BLP 360. This is conducted telephonically by our highly trained and experienced interviewers and coaches.

This is not a scored 360° feedback based on competencies, but a more holistic feedback on the individual taken from various personal and professional stakeholders that the participant nominates. Feedback is delivered to the participants a few days before the first workshop.

Our BLP 360 is completely aligned to our “Inside-Out” approach to Transformational Leadership and is often the start point of our Leadership Development Program or the Breakthrough Leadership Labs.

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” -- Aristotle

TransforME believes in the science and value that psychometric tools have to offer.

We use the Extended DISC assessment as a tool for our interventions on Leadership, Teaming or for Stand Alone Coaching Assignments. We are also in the process of exploring and developing some other profiling tools which we could leverage in our interventions.

The reason we have chosen Extended DISC as the tool for our interventions, is that we have found it to be very aligned to our “Inside-Out” approach to development. The Extended DISC measures the unconscious behavior and compares it with the conscious adjusted behavioral style, allowing the measurement of emotions. It goes way beyond regular DISC and many other tools in this regard.

We can then look at the emotions being communicated by the respondent at the time of completion of the questionnaire, such as stress levels, uncertainty of his/her role, insecurity, frustration, pressure to change etc. It also enables the report to define the influence of the present environment on the respondent’s motivation as far as certain needs are concerned. This is vital information both for the individual and the organization.

Assessment Center

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it wont change you.” – Zig Ziglar

An assessment centre uses a range of evaluation techniques, including role plays, job simulation exercises, in-basket exercises, behavioural event interviews and psychometric tests, to create detailed competency insights on participants.

TransforME conducts extensive diagnostics at our client sites to contextualize the design of an assessment centre to their business environments and competency requirements. At the same time, we bring rich domain expertise and experience of industry best practices to standardize key elements of our assessment centres.
